The 2016 Farmers Market season is just around the corner. The reports from our producer vendors have been quite positive (so far). If the weather holds out, we should have a great selection of fresh, seasonal local produce on opening day.

We are currently hoping to open the Market season on Saturday, May 21st at 8:30 a.m. Once again, the market will be held in the square, 221 Plaza Drive, Wildwood Town Center. Market hours, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., late May-early October.

We are quite excited about the vendor applications we have been receiving. The 2016 market season looks to be once of the best ever. With your support, we are looking forward to really expanding our local, farm fresh produce selection this year. We are happy to welcome many new producers from the local area that are working hard to bring us fresh, seasonal vegetables, fruits and berries, meats, eggs, honey, herbs, garden starts, pollinator plants, fresh cut flowers and more. In addition, we’ll have locally made salsa, pickles, jams and jellies, baked goods, herbs and spices, fresh roasted coffee, specialty tea blends and more. This season we also have added locally made, fresh, organic dog food. As well as the returning dog treat vendor, Noble Canine.

We are now in the midst of creating a regular schedule for our market meat vendors. Knowing where your food comes from and how it is raised has become more and more important; especially in the meat industry. We are happy to connect our community with the folks that produce all of the food at the market. Our meat vendors can give you details on the breed of the animal, the land and pasture they are raised on, the feed, medical care given, slaughter and processing methods and other details. Many of them are happy to have you visit their farms and have pictures to share. Please take the time to ask questions, try different cuts and enjoy locally raised, pastured meats.

Along with our seasonal and local homegrown items, we will also have a limited amount of local artisans and crafters share their creativity and talent. Handmade pottery, wooden cutting boards, wooden spoons and other utensils, handmade wooden toys, up-cycled glass bottle wind chimes, hand painted concrete bird baths, photography, embroidered aprons, mitts and towels, handmade jewelry, paintings and more.

Since we are called a Farmers Market, we do our best to keep the ratio of farmers and food producers at least 80% of our vendor spaces.

Once again, the 2016 season will include live music each week from 9am-12pm. Our Little Sprouts Kid’s Market tent sponsored by Raintree School will be bursting with lots of fun activities for the kids. Last season the parents loved it too!

Please stay posted as we will be sharing the 2016 vendor list with you soon.

We are really looking forward to the upcoming season. Please share the news. The Wildwood Farmers Market is excited to be growing and expanding. We are happy to create a fun, family friendly community event, support our local farm and food producers, local artisans and small businesses. Know your farmer, know your food. Support Local.

See you at the market.
